The miner's hands holding the yellow parti sapphire rough we used before it was cut and facetted.
She requested a striking and elegant dress ring which referenced geometric motifs that define the style of Art Deco jewellery.
We discussed including a large-ish coloured gem to combine with a selection of diamonds, some repurposed from previously worn jewellery.
The unique yellow Australian parti sapphire with a flash of lime green from a small patch of deep blue on the side of the gem, was chosen without hesitation to accompany the diamonds.
An unpredictable design was required to accomodate the striking yellow parti sapphire and variety of diamonds shapes and sizes.
A treasure-tray of gemstones
With such a variety of gems sizes, shapes and heights it required an asymmetric design that needed considered attention so the result appeared balanced and pleasing.
The charming customer and I spent an afternoon turning the loose sapphire around and around in the setting trying to decide which way to orientate the patch of green in the beautiful parti sapphire.
The geometric design of the gem pattern is reflected in the arrangement of coloured gold on the band.
“I wanted a beautiful, elegant ring that was ‘out-of-the-ordinary’ but not crazy. Something modern, classic and absolutely stunning.
We met in Camilla’s studio and discussed the project. Through our conversation, Camilla involved me in the creative process and drew the concept. She brilliantly translated our conversation into a beautiful design.
I am absolutely thrilled with my stunning ring! Thank you Camilla!”
