The deep red garnet was purchased by her father and his brothers alongside a handful of loose gems, at a port somewhere between England, where they were attending boarding school at the time. The collection of gems were intended as a gift for their beloved Mother. The intrepid parents of the boys (the customer’s grandparents) followed the eastward expansion of oil during a time when travel spanned lifetimes.
