Making the sunburst yellow diamond ring☺️.
I often make a silver sample of a shape I haven’t made before, it helps visualise the piece for the customer, especially considering I make such a huge range of unique designs it’s very unlikely I’ll be working on something similar at the same time that I can show as an example. Making a silver sample gives me a practice run so I can hopefully handcraft the gold version efficiently.
Designs often require subtle alterations on the fly, if we have a strong foundation of the design’s intention these changes aren’t stressful to make. I like the free aspect to the way I create work, it’s dynamic and fun, and definitely never boring. 💛

Sunburst yellow diamond ring 💛

This delightfully smiley young man arrived wanted a yellow diamond engagement ring for his beloved to burst out of the box and live for ever on her hand like sunshine 🌞.
The gorgeous natural yellow oval diamond is a knock out, it’s such a pretty yellow and so-so sparkly. All the natural diamonds on this ring are fabulous, how’s the window light flare?! I’m so glad we settled on little yellows down the shoulders.

We had a great time figuring out the sweeping shape of the band and setting together. As my customer’s know where possible I like to find out who I’m making the piece for because it needs to be perfect for them and their journey together.

It’s not my usual style! He won me over with the sunburst yellow😊 and all around kindness.
It’s a beautiful ring and I’m thrilled with the result.

The lights of Hong Kong 🇭🇰 ring

This ring was made for a charming woman, in joyful memory of her Mum. The white diamond was repurposed from a ring of her mum’s, purchased in HK on one of their trips.
It’s a fabulous ring and such a wonderful tribute, bursting with happy, sparkly colour.

The inner sleeve is lined with an incredible hand engraved drawing of a slither of Hong Kong taken from photos she showed that date back to their first holiday when she was young in the early 80’s, with her family.

Ray @london engraver, you’re a marvel

The natural gemstones are a riot of colour hand picked by the customer based on the reflected neon lights on the harbour.

So pleased with the success of this piece. The thoughtful thank you email included a photo of her with her dear Mum on what was to be their last trip to HK in 2018 and they share the same holiday smile 😊.
